| In March 1982, an experimental contamination with Bonamia ostreae was created in the Crach River (Morbihan). Flat oysters were coming from a wild oyster bed in La Rochelle, a histological control has shown they were free from parasites. These oysters were found to be infected after 4 to 5 months. The parasite propagation seems to occur all the year. At the beginning of the disease, infestation rates are low. Percentages increase progressively and reach 25 to 30% after 4 months and 50% and more after 6 or 8 months for the oysters immersed from March to June 1982. |
